Outwardly it seemed like just a normal day in May, but for one couple they were beginning their journey as husband and wife. A hunter and a vegetarian seems like an unlikely match, but one only has to be around Stephanie & Wesley for a minute to see they are perfect for each other.
A delicate handmade handkerchief (a gift from Stephanie's super sassy grandma), made a perfect detail with that stunning ring.
I was and still am so in love with these Beaded Alex Marie shoes! They were the ideal something blue.
Stephanie's Grandma and Matron of Honor, watches on as the talented Paula Dottie Mills of Divine Dotti's salon perfects Stephanie's sophisticated updo.
Marti Young created a stunning bouquet of cream, blush and peach roses, snapdragons and hypercium berries. A perfect complement to a lovely spring wedding.
The real fun began once the flower girl arrived. She was more than excited about her duties and, I can see why she was a must for the role of flower girl.
One last look before she puts on the dress! Seriously how gorgeous is she?!
With it's pretty lace bodice, timeless row of buttons and soft chiffon skirt this dress by Sincerity Bridal was the perfect fit for a vineyard wedding.
It's not every wedding the flower girl and Matron of Honor pair up for a song. I love that this is the piano Stephanie grew up learning to play, so much beauty in this photo.
Stephanie & Wesley chose to have their ceremony at St Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church. Stephanie said when they saw the stunning stained glass window they knew they had to get married there, and a perfect choice it was.
I must say this little darling's flower girl game was strong! So sassy and adorable.
Once they saw each other for the first time it was nothing but smiles.
Let's take a moment to recognize just how cool Stephanie's Grandmother is, so sleek and sophisticated but with that baseball bat cane she's not taking it from anyone. I must say she became my spirit animal!
I'm not sure what he said to get her to laugh like that, but oh how she looks at him, with so much love.
After exchanging vows and rings it was time for the big moment. They sealed their promises to each other with a kiss.
Broad Run Vineyard is a lovely place nestled among rolling hills. The perfect wedding spot.
Simple elegance, and rustic chic meet to make the perfect details for Stephanie & Wesley's reception.
Wesley's reaction to their first dance song was priceless!! This is what he got for not wanting to pick a song....LOL!! (She went with "Can you feel the love tonight" from Lion King)
Little guest watch the Bride & Groom's first dance. I thought I was being sneaky but the flower girl wasn't so easily fooled!!
And the moment we all wait for, the couple cutting their wedding cake. It's the age old, will they smash each other with cake or won't they. Who if anyone will be covered in this sweet confection so beautifully made by Caitlin McChesney.
It was Wesley!! Stephanie really got him good...LOL!!
Holy smokes the pretty! Stephanie is a beautiful person and made an absolutely beautiful bride.
Wesley was all smiles with his bride nearby to coax a genuine smile or 3.
Couple portraits are a personal fav. Getting to watch a newlywed couple interact is priceless. Stephanie & Wesley are effortless together and their love is everywhere.
Jonathan & I have two Great Danes and this is a sentiment we definitely live by.
Look who's turning 1!!
After doing Santana's 6 month photos I was so excited to get to see her smash some cake. The cake smash is so much fun to photograph and can we take a moment to reflect on how cute this face is?? I can tell you it's even cuter covered in icing!!
Now time for the cake!! A fun giant cupcake with purple buttercream icing and a surprise pop of color inside.
Sometimes little ones are shy to dig in but Miss Santana was ready for her birthday cake!!
Her face says it all...."Mmmm cake!!"
How sweet is that little cake covered face??
These little icing covered fingers are just so precious!
This face is totally saying "It's my birthday and I'll smash cake if I want to!!"

As guests at a wedding I photographed, I met Ashley and Jesus through a former bride. I was so thrilled when they contacted me to cover their engagement and wedding, and even more thrilled when they wanted to have a Holi powder fight during their session. Seriously I did a little dance inside!
Exactly a week from today I will watch this adorable couple say their I do's at EP Tom Sawyer State Park, and I cannot wait to be sharing in this special moment with them.
As anyone from Kentucky can agree our weather is temperamental to say the least, and the day of the shoot was no exception. As we had unseasonably warm temperatures just the day before, on this day Kentucky decided to give us the cold shoulder. Ashley and Jesus braved the chill and we started with a stroll through Anchorage Trail. Snuggling to stay warm was the best option for these lovebirds!
And what is love if you can't be big kids and push each other on a swing?!
Watching their fun playful way with each other makes it obvious why these two are head over heels in love.
I don't know what Jesus said to get Ashley to smile like that, but I do know this is one of my absolute favorites!
This photo says more than I ever could, so I will leave it to speak for itself.
Finally the moment I had waited for, the Holi fight!! There is nothing that prepares you for the fun of watching a loving couple hurl colorful clouds of pigment at each other. And if you ever find yourself around folks slinging Holi powder, a little tip.....stand down wind!!!
I am just so lucky to be documenting this hilariously fun couple on their big day and thank you Ashley and Jesus for giving me the opportunity to cross this off my photography bucket list!!! I will see you next week and until then the T- Rex awaits!

While Louisville celebrated the fastest 2 minutes in horse racing, I had the pleasure of hanging out with Laura, Kevin and their adorable fur babies. Being a dog lover myself I had to sneak in a few puppy cuddles before we got started (Perks of the job for sure!).
The session kicked off at their lovely new home, after many puppy snuggles and kisses, we headed over to The Parklands Of Floyd's Fork Park for a gorgeous sunset and a dance in the flowers.
I am so honored to be documenting their love, and I absolutely cannot wait for September 2017!!
I could have taken photos of those sweet furry faces all day, but then that would have left me no time with Laura & Kevin, and the session was supposed to be about them....right??
Under the watchful eye of Dexter & Snookie we stepped outside for a few photos before the lovely (AKA insanely unpredictable) Kentucky weather graced us with a quick shower.
Just as quick as the storm came, it passed and we were off to The Parklands of Floyd's Fork Park.
A gorgeous location + a stunning couple = magical images. I swear these two can't take a bad image, she can even look fabulous picking Kevin's nose. But that's a story and a photo for another day!
Can we say gorgeous? I definitely think so. In the short time I have known Laura I can tell you she is such a sweetheart and it is soo easy to see how Kevin fell in love with her!!
I'd like to give credit to Lauryn Quarles of Make up by Lauryn for the stunning job. I cannot wait to work more closely with her on the big day.
Next we headed to my favorite spot in the whole park, Sky Dome. The view is incredible, and at sunset...well there are just no words.
The session ended with a dance through a field of delicate yellow flowers and one last smooch in the bed of Kevin's new truck. Barefoot dancing in the back of a truck... what photographer could say no?
And as it is so very fitting to this lovely couple, I leave you with a quote by one of my favorite authors, F.Scott Fitzgerald.
"It was only a sunny smile, and little it cost in the giving, but like the morning light, it scattered the night and makes the day worth living." - F. Scott Fitzgerald
